I had a bike ride planned for this week’s mini-adventure but when I got up, I found we had had heavy snow overnight. My front door was actually blocked by a small tree that had bent over under the weight. It snowed for the rest of the day so by late afternoon, I decided to go for a walk along the canal up to my woodland recovery project and a bit beyond.
It snowed off and on along the way and it was a lot of kiddieland fun crunching through the fresh powder. But after a couple of hours, it started to get dark, and I figured I had swallowed enough flakes so I turned back. I was thinking about doing some Wim Hof-style neekid snow rolls but I almost lost a couple of fingers taking photos (seriously freekin’ painful) so I let that slide.
We’ve had a super-mild Winter up until now but this was actually the most snow I’ve seen in years. It was pretty exciting but I’m probably good for a while now. The whole walk took about 4.5 hours. I admit I was thinking the snow might give me an out for the week but I’m so glad I went. Like always.
